| Normally a barren canyon, in June of 2017 a heavy snowpack remains at the upper end of this canyon which is just north of Onion Valley. At the 10,000' level of the canyon is a shaft dug to reach the Rex Montis mine which is at the 12,000' level on Kersarge Peak high above Onion Valley. This road and shaft were built in the 1960s.
